Lawrence & the Arabain Adventure

New York: Doubleday, Doran and Co., 1928. First Edition. Octavo. Item #032627

Portrait frontispiece, 400 pages, index. Nice illustrations and photographic images by Eric Kennington. Graves found many new facts not found in Revolt in the Desert or Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Lawrence was called the "uncrowned king of three nations". What still is a mystery is how a white 26-year-old man who was rejected by the British Army as physically unfit became the key to destroying the Turkish military. The endpapers have very nice maps by Henry Perry. of the region where Lawrence operated so successfully. Bound in brown cloth spine lettered and decorated in gilt, first 4 leaves have foxing, internally clean, in an unclipped tan pictorial dust jacket lettered in black, decorated in red, spine lettering black, toning to jacket, spine darkened, some chipping to corners and spine ends with some chipping to flap edges, most likely bug bites, top edge red. A very good copy.
