Furs to Furrows; an Epic of Rugged Individualism

Caldwell, ID: Caxton Printers, 1939. Octavo. Item #032578

Frontispiece, 433 pages, index. Illustrated. The author has found material that many of the best writers on the fur trade either overlooked or missed. It has value though the writer tends to be wordy. So, while important it will probably be read quickly and looking for those details others have missed. It centers it interest primarily in the thirty to forty years of American history following the Louisiana Purchase. During this period, the trappers were always some 500 miles ahead of the army, missionaries, and the land hungry pioneers, showing them the way to make good our acquisition of the territory west of the Mississippi. Bound in brown cloth, lettering brown over the outline of a fure, spine lettered and decorated in green, front endpapers appear to have had a ghost of a sticker or plate of some sort . A very good copy.

Price: $85.00
