From the Robert Todd Lincoln collection first opened to investigators in 1947 containing a vast body of firsthand material reflecting not only Lincoln's thoughts and problems, but inner history of the nation in a time of supreme crisis. Bound in gray cloth spine lettering gilt over brown in beige dust jackets lettered in brown and white, some chipping to edges and spine ends with larger chips to volume one a couple of corners bumped, housed within publisher's paper covered slipcase with wrap around pastedown label, some rubbing and wear to corners.
