Portrait frontispiece, 189 pages which includes the complete roster (p. 73-91) of the regiment, field and staff officers and gives an account of the reunions of 1888 and 1889 An important regimental history of the 142nd of Pennsylvania. They were in the battles of Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Cold Harbor and Petersburg. The War History and Col. Horatio N. Warren here has his reminder of patriotism that led to the Union's triumph. Later history shows that Col. Warren led memorial parades up to 1905. In 1906 he was involved with a controversy that led to his being fired from the Board of Pensions. Bound in brown cloth over beveled boards stamped in gilt "Rally Round the Flag Boys" with a gilt flying flag below. A handsome copy with spot of rubbing to spine ends and light wear to corners, previous owner's name stamp J. Emerson Locke whose father fought in the war at Gettysburg at age 18, and damp staining to the outer edge of front endpapers.
