Moran: 50 Yrs Anniversary Knives; the Complete History of Their Making

Woodside, New York: Jeane P. Semon and William F. Semon, 1997. Quarto. Item #032091

108 pages. Although the copyright was granted in 1997, the Semons were only able to get it published in May 1998 (they have signed this notation on the copyright page). Issued only in paper it has become scarce. This beautiful shop in Middletown, Marilyn has produced the Maryland Style camp Knife, Southwestern Bowie Style Knives, Indian Khanjar Style Knives as well as the Combat Knife Fighter. The more contemporary the Moran knife, the greater its value and collectability. However, the cinquedea is an important exclusion to this rule. Bill made only about seven of them and most or all have Lime Kiln stamps, which indicates the knives were made sometime between the mid-1950s and 1973. Apart from his influence regarding the forged blade, pattern welding, and Damascus steel, Moran's influence has spread to other realms of the cutlery industry beyond "Art Knives". A fine copy issued only on paper, signed by the two friends of Bill Moran who underwrote the publication.
