In two volumes; Vol. I Text and illustrations 48 pp. following with 374 illustrations. Vol. II; 218 page catalog and (1) pp. Contents of volume I. This major work covers the very large body of material that survives from the intensely creative Romanesque period in France. Professor Cahn discusses not only the high points of the illuminator's art but has been specially concerned to catalog and illustrate the wide-ranging and diverse work in the 12th century. A fine set bound in blue cloth stamped in blind, spine lettered in gilt, in fine dust jackets, no names or bookplates. Very nice.
