The Medieval love story where Aucassin and his beloved, Nicolette, have their love tested by family and the fortunes of war. One of the great medieval love stories stated by Walter Pater, Simone de Beauvoir quotes the story. Mortimer Adler thought it spoke beautifully of young love. A very nice copy bound in full blue straight grained morocco double ruled in gilt, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, spine has changed from blue to brown, double morocco spine labels gilt, gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers with pink and white stemmed roses used for following end sheets, all edges gilt, no names or bookplates, only a few spots of rubbing. A handsome copy.
