The author's second book. Signed ephemera laid in. 230pp. Based on the East L. A. barrio riots of 1943. The collection ends with Babener's essay on the film Chinatown, which does not deal with the Owens Valley water scandal. Laid in is a signed card from the author to Santa Barbara's Burce & Darlene Bucklew. "Dear Bruce & Darlene, have a Merry Xmax & Happy New Year, we want to see you over the holidays. Stephane, Tom, Dante." And a couple other items. Bound in 1/4 white linen over dark gray paper covered boards, spine lettering red, some fading to edges corners only slightly bumped, in an unclipped dust jacket, light wear to spine ends with just a bit of damp sating along upper edge of jacket.
