Tout-Ankh-Amon
Bruxelles: Vromant, 1943. First Edition. Octavo. Item #031872
French text. x, 211 pages. The publisher writes "Due to circumstance, only a small number of copies were printed on Alpha paper, with the plates on art paper. These constitute the original edition and bear the seal of the Queen Elizabeth Egyptian foundation (stamped below). Illustrated in color and in black and white. Laid in is a printed sheet that describes the gilt emblems on the cover and the images on the endpapers. Once the tomb of Tout-Ankh-Amen was opened in 1923, Capart became the major early lecturer on its importance. Besides his role as Director at the Belgian Royal Museum of Arts, he also demonstrated, besides the magnificent art in ancient Egypt, that everyday life was complicated. A lovely near fine copy of a scarce book bound in maroon cloth stamped in gilt, spine lettering gilt over black with some rubbing to lettering, in a pictorial dust jacket with only light wear to one corner, finger soiling to jacket and a bit of wrinkling to head. Very nice.
