Limited to 100 copies. The present copy is #75. 43 pages. As a teenager he saw the losses the Spanish inhabitants endured in the early days of California statehood. He saw many of his crimes on norteamericanos (whites), as a defender of Mexican-American rights. He was hero among his people with the women, married and single pursuing him. His last affair led to his downfall. He was executed in 1875. The play Bandido helped popularize the story of Tiburcio Vásquez to a new generation of young Chicanos and Chicanas in the latter 20th century. A very good copy of his very scarce book bound in 1/4 pictorial black cloth over black cloth depicting a man on a horse and lettering gilt with some rubbing, spine plain.
