Limited to 1000 copies. The present copy is number 930. 48 pages. a very scarce account of one of the earliest movie stars in the days of what were primarily known as "two-reelers". He tells of his earliest work in theatre and his early disdain for what was shown at "5-cent" theatres. To him, the stage was legitimate but somehow these flickering images drew him in. George K. Spoor, a producer, saw him as ideal for the early films. Soon he moved from the American Company to Universal. There are dozens of photographs of him in both stage and his movies. A very scarce item. Fragile but complete in original dark brown paper wraps with yapped edges, with small tears and some chips to edges and spine ends.
