Hitler Germany as Seen By a Foreigner
Berlin: Internationaler Verlag, 1938. Large Octavo. Item #031764
Third edition. 432 pages, 191 photographic images. Clearly, a propagandistic triumph was issued in the same year just before November 9 when Kristallnacht took place. The chapter on Population and Race suggests the Jews though being excluded from the higher parts of German society can function. He writes: "Since the Jews are the only non-Aryan race inhabiting Germany...the racial question is.... the Jewish question." (p. 133). The discussion of Jewish relations is viewed as a "sanitary" issue. He goes on to explain "Matrimonial Hygiene" for racial purity. He says that Jewish women older than 45 may work as domestics (presumably, so an Aryan male would not be tempted). "The rights of Jewish businesses have in nowise been curtailed." (p. 131). This work is not common and clearly attempts to perpetrate the lie that the Jews in German while not in privileged positions are going to be left to themselves. Bound in blue cloth lettered in silver, spine lettering silver, spine faded and small chip near head, outer margins toned. A very good copy of a scarce book.
