274 pages. Inspector Schmidt is at a friend during one of the blackouts during World War II, when a body is discovered in a nearby apartment when the lights come back on. A fascinating story which also involves a Russian princess and milkman though not the type of affair one might have expected. A very scarce copy with some black color gone in spots showing the original white cloth showing through on boards(nothing will penetrate the cloth to cover the white as previous owner's tried to mask it without sucess, in the original unclipped edges rubbed and a few small, closed edge tears and staining to underside. A good copy.
