First printing, inscribed by the author to a "fellow Zamoranan". 448pp., with a 3 page photographic folder tipped in before the second half-title with a picture of the author and signed below his photograph and with photographs of the Stokes Ranch House and the Thomas O. Larkin House. Kearny served in the war of 1812. By 1819 he was chosen for the first military expedition to Yellowstone expedition, and he virtually founded the United States Cavalry. His father-in-law was the famous Senator Thomas Hart Benton. Bound in gray cloth, red spine label gilt, A very nice, near fine copy in a very good pictorial dust jacket with sunning to spine.
