London; Nd[ca.1891]: Griffith Farran Okeden & Welsh. Octavo. Item #031073

Portrait frontispiece, 298 pages. A major British commander who made a heroic march in the Peninsular Campaign. In early 1810 Wellesley (now Viscount Wellington) reorganized his army; Craufurd's old light brigade became the core of a new 'light division', which, under his command, played a particularly prominent role in the operations along the Coa, at the battle of Busaco, and in Wellington's retreat to the lines of the Torres Vedras. Wellington later called him one of the major names of his campaigns. Bound in green cloth centrally stamped in gilt depicting a horn, spine lettering gilt, decorative endpapers. A very good copy with staining to upper board and foot.

Price: $175.00
