Sallust was one of the most serious and passionate figures among the historians of antiquity. He fully deserves a place alongside Thucydides and Tacitus, with whom he also shares stylistic similarities. His early life in the first century of revolution, brought him into contact with the political lives of Cecero, Caesar, and Augustus which allowed him to witness great deeds and cruelties, heroism and treachery in every form and experience the bloody horrors of the extermination of an entire class. Bound in red cloth, spine red clocked in white, red remainder line on the bottom fore-edge, near fine in red and beige dust jacket lettered in white with a few small chips along the upper edge.
