62p. 2 maps, notes and bibliography. Marion traveled to California then on to Arizona where he mined in Yuma, then on to prescott where he took up mining again. He later decided to purchae the Miner newspaper which was started in Whipple in 1864. He later met Major general Stoneman. He writes his account of his trip with Stoneman, one of the best and least known accounts from this period appeared in the Miner in installments between October 8 and November 1870. It was so widely read that he announced in the Miner of Dec. 14 that seven hundred copies had been printed and for sale. Only three appear to have suvived. The following book gives the story. Bound in beige leather like cloth lettred in brown, tiny bump to upper edge of upper board. A near fine copy.
