Limited to one of 450 copies printed at the Castle Press, Pasadena. Color frontispiece, 59 pages, XIV of the Early California Travel Series. An important part of the Western fur trade. Antoine had begun a regular exploitation of the fur-bearing valleys north and west of Santa Fe and Taos. Robidoux is credited with being "one of the first penetrators" of the Intermontane Corridor. The maps on the endpapers show the location of Fort Hall, the Flatheal house, Fort Bridger and Bent's fort. A very good copy bound in brown cloth, spine lettering gilt, light fading to spine.
