Engraved frontispiece, ii [iii-iv] 322 pages. One of the sources Benjamin Franklin used in his 1757 Poor Richard's Almanac. In this work, the compiler has not given names of the authors because their work was for private use not public use. Collection of 1813 aphorisms and maxims. Bound in a modern 20th century 3/4 leather over marbled paper covered boards, raised bands, compartments decoratively stamped in gilt, red leather spine label gilt, endpapers renewed, frontispiece with an old closed tear repair, a few scratches for leather, a very nice copy.
