Second Edition. In two volumes: Volume I, xii, 322 pages and Volume II, vii [1] 344 pages. The author was born in Glasgow in 1755, the daughter of an army officer who was posted to America where his family joined him at Albany, New York. She remembered all the events regarding General Howe, the fall of Fort Ticonderoga, and much on the Schuyler family. (The American lady is Catalina Schuyler, the author's 'earliest and most valuable friend" who helped to guide her early education in America. Of special importance also is her account of the Mohawk tribes. A fine set bound in contemporary 3/4 green polished calf over marbled paper covered boards, flat spine gilt in compartments, red morocco spine labels gilt, all edges marbled.
