Color frontispiece, 149 pages illustrated by the author in black and white. The authors grew up in Montana just outside Missoula and wrote several books for young people. Here they researched old letters and diaries for the background of their story. It takes place in the late 19th century where torn and strangely marked piece of buckskin is found hidden in a shack in their uncle's ranch. Bound in blue cloth pictorially stamped in orange, spine lettering orange. A lovely near fine copy in a clipped pictorial dust jacket with a small closed edge tear to front panel and a few tiny nicks to spine ends and edges. Very scarce with the dust jacket.
