Hotson sets out to reconstruct the setting and atmosphere of the first performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night (which was a command performance ordered by Queen Elizabeth I). A remarkable example of detective work by a great literary scholar. A near fine copy bound in green cloth, spine lettering gilt, boards just a bit bowed, in very good clipped pictorial dust jacket with a few chips, closed edge tear to bottom edge of front panels, light wear to edges. A very good copy.
