lv, 339pp., illustrated with maps, diagrams, and photographic images. Habby Stansich Ball was born in South Africa in 1888 and died at Haslemere after a long illness p. 189-249. Ball was a distinguished mining engineer with wide experience of South African and American methods, and during the War of 1914-18 became one of the recognized authorities on military mining. Maps, designs, and folding photographs show the tunnelling process and how the trenches were form on both the Allied and German side. bound in 3/4 black morocco over green cloth, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers few chips to spine ends. one band and bottom compartment near date, light wear to corners, previous owner's name stamp, and embossed stamp. A very good copy.
