In two volumes. A new edition, Half-titles, portrait frontispiece in volume 1, 381pp., 502pp., (1)pp. publisher's ad, with additions and corrections. The original text of the earlier edition now has inserted footnotes of items not found in the first edition. For instance, that Garrick playing Romeo and Mrs. Cibber playing Juliet was the finest production in London, the debate between Hill and Pope, as well as why W. Stone was pulled from the play with Garrick's reply. Bound in full calf, earlier rebacking with original gilt decorated spineslaid down preserving the original black morocco spine labels gilt, endpapers renewed and covering early bookplate, corners worn, scattered foxing to half-titlesand with occasional spots of foxing within the volumes, some dampstaining to gutter of volume 1. A very good set.
