The works of the Roman lyric poet Horace (65 B.C.-8 B.C.) had their asendency in the Augustan age. This editon followed the typographic excellence established by Aldus Manutius. There is a three line French note on this unique edition as well as marginal note in French at T7v; and a laid-in note in Latin at Hh6. Handsomely bound in a vellum binding with a spectacular gilt stamped panels depicting a statue holding a staff and shield with an owl and a duck, etc., at the foot and the words "Hagae Comitis" written at the base of the statue which is a town in the Netherlands(The Hauge). spine decorated and ruled in gilt, title in ink in second panel, wanting ront endsheets, a very nice copy with just a bit of toning to page edges. A very nice copy.
