London, 1946, 1947 and 1948: Signature Press. First Editions. Small Quarto. Item #028885

This is the New Series which began shortly after the end of World War II. These are the first six volumes which eventually continued to 1954. The first volume has a nice frontispiece of the Curwen Press, articles on Gille, Newdidate, and Joan Hassal (which several pages dedicated to her wood engravings); Chagall as a book illustrator, Stanley Morrison as a typographer, in volume 4 "The Bird of Edward Lear" by Brian Reade with four collotypes. All bound in printed wrappers, some volumes have light foxing mostly marginal, each in original glassine wrappers and contains a prospectus which unfortunately is only in fair condition. The set itself is very nice.
