Cambridge, Nd[ca.1933]: [Cambridge University Press]. Quarto. Item #028839

30 pages. Front cover: Specimens of Oriental Founts Cambridge. Scholars and learned societies needed precision with the founts (also spelled fonts) in the early 20th Century. Cambridge had begun with Greek characters in 1521 and by 1738 produced Arabic characters. While F.C. Burkitt was in charge, he also worked with R.A. Nicholson and H. Loewe to produce this work to complement the work of William Wright, Sir W. A. Wallis Budge and J. Rendel Harris. Moderately scarce in very good condition, bound in brown cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, two cloth bubbles, a couple of stains on front board which appear to be from tape?
