203 pages. illustrated with a series of etchings and photogravures. Besides the account of Saint-Simone, she has written on many of the controversial women of the French court. She was the daughter of Julia Ward Howe. She and her sister Maud Howe Elliot received a Pulitzer Prize for biography in 1917 for Julia Ward Howe 1819-1910. String bound in a curious handmade clear binding with rippled edges with gilt calligraphy with a shield accented in blue, all edges gilt.. A black and white photograph is laid in at the back. Possibly that of Laura Richards? A very nice copy.
