Thoroughly revised and carefully brought up to date, with the addition of a complete list (not to be found in any other work, official or otherwise) of every commanding officer during the Reign of her Majesty the Queen. xv, 942 pages, (7) pp. ads. Besides the 24 hand-colored plates, there are also an additional 240 illustrations in the text. After the 1895 edition of 552 pages, Chichester died and George Burges Short took up to increase the work and adding a biographical sketch of every commanding officer. Finely bound in a newer red leather, boards rule in gilt and decorative roll in blind, raised bands gilt, top edge gilt, compartments fully lettered and decorated in gilt, endpapers renewed, some light scattered foxing to margins of pates off-setting onto the following text page, previous owner's name, housed within a custom cloth covered slipcase with the original cloth cover mounted. A very handsome copy.
