309 Pages illustrated with photographic images. Vieth was one of a small number of Canadians to see active duty in the Crimean War. He served with the 63rd West Suffolk Regiment (later the Manchesters). The accounts of the three-day assault on Malakoff as well as the problem with Redan. The map of Kinbury Fort and the planned attack help to see the placement of the guns. The latter half of the book provides an interesting account of life in the Eastern Provinces of Canada as well as sporting life whether hunting Caribou or the fascinating chapter of his dealing with salmon fishing. A very nice account bound in ¾ white leather over blue cloth, slightly raised bands, black spine label gilt, white moire silk endpapers, leather soiled or rubbed. A very good copy.
