House Blessings and Guest Book
Pasadena, California: Radiant Life Press, 1917. First Edition. Item #028541
70 pages. One of the finest books by the controversial James who here has followed up on his pamphlet on house blessings he had learned from the Navajo Indians of Arizona and New Mexico. He tells how he introduced the ceremony in lectures at the Panama-California International Exposition. He notes among those who were attendees; Mark Twain, Bret Harte, Ina Coolbrith, Joaquin Miller, George Sterling, and others in the contemporary literary world. Fortunately, no one has used this though there are places where guests could sign their names. Bound in orange pictorial cloth depicting an American Indian on a horse upon a hill accented in black and gilt, top edge gilt, spine plain, three spots of rubbing to front board, one lightly bumped corner. A very handsome copy.
