From the bloody battle at Corinth to their service under Van Dorn and Nathan Bedford Forrest, they distinguished themselves in the Army of Tennessee at Holly Springs and Chickamanuga. It has in its appendices the complete muster rolls of the Third Cavalry plus the parole lists of those who surrender with Johnson in North Carolina. This copy is inscribed by John L. Heflin to Doctor Randy Brown, laid in with a 3 page letter laid to Dr. Brown while he was Head of Radiology at the Mayo clinic and was dealing with his wife's illness (recevied shortly before her death). Dr. Brown passed away in Arizona in 2018.Bound in brown cloth, spine lettering gilt, near fine in a very good pictorial dust jacket lettered in red and blue, spine lettering red and blue, closed tear to head with small chips, some light rubbing or finger soiling. A very nice copy.
