The author explains why he made this improved edition in his preface. He was attached for four years to the Imperial University of Tokio [sic] What is also of interest, he has not only dealt with the Mikados, Shoguns and Daimos but also other smaller aboriginal groups of Japan. His chapter on Children's games and sports is fascinating. Besides the map, there are 108 illustrations including the Court Lady in Kioto and Ozawa's "The Feast of Dolls".Bound in brown cloth over beveled boards, lettering gilt, spine gilt, very light wear to spine ends, brown coated endpapers. From the library of Jno. A. Berkey with his bookplate and shelf sticker to spine. A very nice clean copy.
