This lavish volume is the first to reproduce in full color the exquisite original designs for Aleko, The Firebird and Daphnis and Chloe. Included are both decorations and costumes; sketches for dancers, monsters, peasants, magicians, and the fabulous sets which transformed these ballets into magical mélanges of flowers, mystical birds and floating cities. All printed under the directions of Fernand Mourlot of France. Bound in beige cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, in very nice pictorial dust jacket with rubbing along the bottom edge, small nick to one corner on rear panel and a rub mark near head, in sunned publisher's slipcasewith a small hole to spine. A very nice copy of one of Marc Chagall's major achievements.
