Eastlake was a fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects. 36 plates including the examples of early Italian Diaper patterns (plates XVI-XXIII) in rich color. The earlier editions had 32 or 34 plates instead of the full 36. Bound in brown cloth lettered and decorated in blind, spine lettering gilt, all edges red, brown coated endpapers, covers soiled, light wear to corners and spine ends, previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown and shelf sticker on spine, owner's name and address in pencil to front endpaper dated 1877, title page and frontispiece do have some soiling or foxing with tissue guard, internally clean. Laid in are three pages of Stoddard's fads for poultry books. A very good copy.
