302 pages; Engraved frontispiece, engraved vignette title page and regular title page. Like Sir Walter Scott and Robert Burns, James Hogg sought to find the oral stories they had heard in their childhood and get them into print, Hogg's influence was extensive and upon his death in 1835, the aged Wordsworth wrote a final poem "On the Death of James Hogg". His lament showed how important Hogg's poetic recollections had been to him. Bound in a very beautiful green decorative cloth in gilt lettered in red, spine gilt, all edges red, dark brown coated endpapers. A lovey copy, with just a hint of rubbing to spine. A beautiful book.
