Carson is a biologist who became so concerned with the American environment and other parts of the world, on the effects of the pesticides now in general use. The facts she brings forward are appalling. She explains what is meant by the "balance of nature". She also describes the lethal chemicals that have been invented in the brief period of the Second World War. There is one chapter devoted to the subject of the connection between and the incidence of cancer of certain chemicals, paralleling those of radiation. A near fine copy bound in green cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, in an unclipped dust jacket showing only mild rubbing or chipping to spine ends and corners, tiny crease to lower edge of rear corner. A very bright, clean copy.
