Color frontispiece, lvii, 560 pages, 7 unnumbered leaves of plates; maps (some folded, some in color) His precise rendering of the geology of the area distinguished him from many of the writers whose main purpose was to prove the Bible was true whether or not the archaeological proof met their religious quests. Today scholars still quote his works (see the Landscapes of Eretz in Israel in Biblical Sketches of the 19th century. Prize Bookplate to Alfred Grabhau Gristock from King's College London for his work in Divinity in the Department of General Literature and Science, Eastern Term, 1868. Bound in a prize binding of green morocco, pictorially stamped in gilt depicting the the King's College emblem in gilt, spine fully gilt decorated, inner gilt denteels, all edges gilt, with presentation mounted to front paste down, a very nice copy with joints rubbed.
