A beautifully designed book with dust jacket and a striking slipcase with design reproducing a bogolanfini printed cloth design. This work shows the sub-Saharan textile design at many levels. It includes cloths found in archaeological expeditions as well as the Islamic influence from North Africa. The appendices discuss the materials such as bark, raffia, cotton and silk. It is a major contribution and since it presents a range of materials it allows the reader to grasp the concepts from many design examples.
