Guernsey: Frederick B. Guerin, 1903. Thick Small Quarto. Item #027569

Half-title, frontispiece, 454 pages, which includes the extensive appendices, notes, and detail of the history, plus [2]pp.errata, along with 16 richly colored plates primarily of officer uniforms with printed over sheets. Their 283 history covers many wars though their loss of nearly 22,000 in World War I alone was stunning. There is a drawing on page 97 which shows the glove worn by the officers of the royal fusillers about the end of the eighteenth century drawn from a contemporary sketch. The bade of the regiment was embroidered on back of the glove in blue silk. It was in vogue in the period 1785-1792. Bound in original gilt stamped purple cloth(now changed to gray) over beveled boards, rebacked in red leather, renewed endpapers, raised bands with compartments stamped in gilt, green leather spine label gilt. A very nice copy.
