(West Midlands, England; 2010-2012): Helion and Company. First Edition. Thick Octavo. Item #027512
These two volumes describe in extreme detail (1286 pages) those two months in which the Soviets lost more men than the United States did in four years. Glantz has accessed both the Russian and German war archives to provide details only hinted at in other works on the subject. He also includes actual field reporting from the Soviet commanders. It shows how many smaller sub-battles in the campaign were decided by individual unit commanders on either side whose responses were remarkable but not decisive in themselves. Bound in blue cloth, spine lettering gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust jackets. Near fine.
