a photograph of the aftermath of the 1896 Presidential Campaign in Martin, Michigan (Allegan County). Freeman C. Ives who had bet on William Jennings Bryant and lost had to wheel his cousin Glen McLoud on a wheelbarrow in the downtown which the relative identified as "the middle of town--the sight of the only Dry goods store and on the opposite corner was the Black Smith shop which became the site of the Martin Bank. The original owner mistakenly put the date down of 1898 but the 16-1 campaign was in 1696. Freeman C. Ives (was born in 1875 and passed away in 1951.
