176 pages, index. Issued only in paper wraps. Profusely illustrated with over 100 photographs including the uniforms and flags which are in color. It covers the early years (1891-1914) when they served in the Boer War up until World War I. The Second World War It was redesignated the '1st batallion, 48th Highlanders and on 13 June 1940 it went to France as part of the Second British Expeditionary Force, reaching Sablé-sur-Sarthe before being ordered back. They ended up in landings in Italy, Sicily, France, Germany and after the war were station in Eastern Europe. The author of this book is George W. "Goordie" Beal who served in the 48th and was of the 3rd generation to serve.
