Vol. 1, No. 38. Pages [593]-608 (16 pages) with significant details: p, 606 Hallack relieved from duty and U.S. Grant assigned to command the armies of the United States. It continues: "W.T. Sherman is assigned to the command of the Military Division of the Mississippi, composed of the Departments of Ohio, the Cumberland, the Tennessee and the Arkansas. On page 608, it announces the "Enrollment of Colored Persons: "Boards of Enrollment in district in which there are any colored persons...will, without delay, proceed to enroll all persons as are liable for military duty". These papers allow the collector to own genuine contemporary parts of Civil War history. Although there is severe foxing on page 1, the parts on the promotion of Grant, Sherman and the issue on Colored persons is free of any defects. First page has some water staining, small hole to first column of text, two hole punches to left margins edges chipped.
