Hornsea, UK; (2014): The Pulps Library. First PS Edition. Octavo. Item #027341
89 pages. Illustrated by Pete Von Sholly, with an introduction by S.T. Joshi. While "The Dunwich Horror" originally appeared in 1928, it is one of Lovecraft's most popular narratives as it depicts the horrors lurking in the backwoods of New England. It is the quest for the Necronomicon and the destruction through incantations that expands on a theme he introduced in his earlier work "The Call of Cthulhu". Lovecraft's influences range from Arthur Machen's "The Great God Pan" (completed in the 1890's) to Algernon Blackwood's "The Wendigo". The story first appeared in the April 1929 issue of Weird Tales. A fine bright copy bound in pictorial gloss paper covered boards in matching pictorial dust jacket.
