Bryant, who took over the 46th regiment of black soldiers and unlike his predecessor who despised them, trained them and led them. Also General Farnsworth and a host of Illinois heroes are given biographies and engravings. A handsome copy bound in a modern 3/4 brown leather over brown cloth, raised bands gilt with compartmernts lettered and decorated in gilt marbled end papers re-newed, all edges gilt. Very nice.
