284 pages.Illustrated. Daniel Buck was an eyewitness to the trial and the execution of the 38 who were hanged. As a longtime attorney in the state and a member of the Minnsota Supreme Court, he had access to all the facts and represented many who had suffered loss and sought compensation from the Sioux Claims Commission . Despite the title, it was only the U.S.-Dakota War about which he wrote. He concentrated on the events of 1862. One of the most important first hand accounts. Bound in brown cloth, gilt? but rubbed off, wear to spine ends and corners, covers with finger soiling, previous owner's name. A very good copy. [Howes B-914].
