. 739 pages, index, with engravings of the New York State Capitol in Albany, West Point, Buffalo Harbor, Lake George, Genesee Falls at Rochester, Niagara Falls, Salt Manufacture at Syracuse, Ontario Female Seminary, Oswego Falls, Cherry Valley Female Academy, and a view of Troy from the river, frontispiece is birds-eye view of New York and Brooklyn. The engraved title page includes another view of Niagara Falls. There are 11 pages of ads for various institutions with images of the Walnut Hill School, the Collegiate Institute, Troy Female Institute, Fort Edward Institute, Packer Collegiate Institute, Bryant, Stratton Mercantile Colleges, Cooperstown Seminary, Poughkeepsie Collegiate School, and Young Ladies Institute along with other ads for various academies. What will interest some is that Troy University had both Marvin R. Vincent, the well known Greek scholar as an instructor, with a list of the cost of annual expenses with a list of scholarship with values as high as $1,000. Some foxing on engravings with tissue guards present but pages of text are generally clean. Bound in ¼ green calf over green embossed cloth, spine lettered and decorated in gilt and blind, decorative endpapers, light wear to corners and spine. A very good copy.
