The International Scientific Series edited by F. Legge. 301 pages, index. illustrations. One of the earliest books on radioactivity. After a series of studies on the radium, he collaborated with Prof. S. Russ on radioactive recoil, with Fajans on the beta-rays from radium B and with Moseley on the gamma radiation from the same substance; with Geiger he wrote a timely book on radioactive measurements. The bookplate is Charles A.D. Burk (1886-1937) who was a chemist for the Chemical War Service in the period after World War I. Bound in red embossed cloth, spine lettered and decorated in gilt and blind, previous owner's bookplate and name of half-title,, spine a bit darkened with small stain. A very good copy.
