sepia original wet-dry sepia photograph of Major-General Ambrose Burnside with Major-General Robert Anderson measuring approximately 6 3/8" x 5". The previous owner Edward Krengel was a collector who obtained this as part of a collection of an unknown itinerate Civil War era photographer. Krengel wrote regarding Bruce Catton's article: "The Shot that Began the Civil War" noted he had a photograph of both Anderson and Burnside which they later published in their unnamed publication cropping out the images of the other two gentlemen in the original photograph.
